I , as many other's grew up with Mayberry and the wonderfull people that lived there. Everyone of them bought something into our homes and hearts. When one of them pass away it's like one of our family that passes on. My heart was sadden to learn that Howard Morris went to the Mayberry in the school. I know we will all miss him very much. My heart goes out to his family and I'd like to THANK THEM for sharing him with us. Ernest T. will always have a special place im my heart and anyone that was raised with Myberry. And I know Ernest T. will find some soft rocks in heaven. WE WILL MISS YOU ERNEST T.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr Morris passing. I had not heard until today. I will always remember him and the great job he did as an actor and entertainer. I have memories from childhood that I will carry with me always of the wonderful character of Ernest T. I was hoping to meet him one day at one of the Mayberry events. It would have been an honor to meet and talk to him. I most rescently heard him on the Johnboy and Billy show early this year or late last. This is sad news indeed. My prayers and thoughts go out his family and know that he was loved by millions.

From the former members of the now defunct,"Gomer Message Board" we express our sympathies to the family and friends that loved Howard Morris. There will never be another. Even with only 5 episodes that he appeared in, on the Andy Griffith Show, he made a tremendous impression on fans. Thanks you for the laughs. Howard Morris was a brilliant man. He is missed, but he left us with a smile.

Peace to you

I am greatly saddened to just today hear of the passing of Howard Morris.  My familie's condolences go out to your family.  I realize most folks know him as Earnest T Bass, and yet I am old enough to remember his fabulous carachters on the Sid Caesar Show of Shows.  In particular, I remember Mr. Morris in a hysterically-funny bit where he plays a 'gentelman's gentleman' - dressing Caesar in what appears to be a military outfit- but turns out to be a DOORMAN's uniform! He was hysterical, with Caesar playing straight man.

It's a tragic loss to entertainment but we know he left a lifetime of great memories.

With Respect,

Dave Michelsohn & Family
Albuquerque, NM

Mr. Michelsohn,

I wish that I could see the Sid Ceasar show with Mr. Morris. You are very fortunate to have had the pleasure of that. I am not old enough to remember much about Sid Ceasar's show, but have seen clips from it, and have heard much about it from my parents over the years. Again, I am happy you had the opportunity to see the funny antics of Howard Morris out of his Ernest T. Bass character.

I was fortunate enough to meet Howard when I was in the hospital room next to him in 2003. He still had that remarkable twinkle in his eye and spring in his step.
We didnt talk long, only a few minutes. He was very down-to-earth, and tolorated my stupid friend with grace.

I loved Ernest T., Howard, so much it was uncanny--like so many others.  My sister turned me onto him.  She wore a locket with a picture of Ernest T. in it around her neck for years and years.

He will always be one of the  most favorite characters in my life.  He gave us the precious gift of laughter and immeasurable joy.... There will never be anyone like him.  I am grateful to have had the chance to see his episodes.  I cried when he got his diploma, and I'm crying now.          God bless

I believe the People's Choice Awards snubbed Mr. Morris in its "In Memoriam" tributes for those who died in the last year.  Hopefully at the Oscars will not see the same mistake made.
