To David and Kim Morris, his family and all the hearts Howie brought joy to over the years, I add my condolences. I have an additional burden of sadness in that I was just beginning to appreciate the dimensions of Howard Morris' immense talent when I discovered this website and the forums. I recall watching "Your Show Of Shows" reruns late Saturday evenings in the 70s when I first really took notice of the name. Later, as a struggling radio performer and would-be voice actor, I incorrectly assumed some higher-pitched male voices in Hanna-Barbera cartoons of the sixties were done by Don Messick. Upon listening closer, and digesting more information on the subject, I again see the name "Howard Morris." BOING! OK, it all becomes clearer. It's apparent that the voices for Ernest T. and H-B's Mushmouse are "kin" to one another (with important differences, of course). As someone who gravitates toward character actors who excel at playing hillbillies, wildmen or both, I find a lot to love about Howie. But there's so very much more. And I, for one plan on digging further into the wonderful legacy of his work. My only regret is not having a chance to see Mr. Morris work on stage and/or meet him face-to-face. Alas, he was a true iconoclast and obviously a very sweet man. May he rest peacefully.
With love, Bob Schaeffer Hurleyville, NY
